The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner. If you’re looking forward to snuggling up in front of the fire, decking the halls with boughs of holly and indulging in mince pies, Christmas pudding, and lashings of roast turkey and pigs in blankets, now is the time to start planning your festive decor. If you’re lucky enough to have a conservatory, we have some incredible ideas to help you celebrate in style!

SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN YOUR CONSERVATORY

Many people think of a conservatory as a space for the summer, but this is a hugely versatile room that can be used all year-round. There are so many amazing ways you can utilise your conservatory this Christmas.

FESTIVE FUN AND GAMES

Do you have a large family, or are you famed for hosting the best festive gatherings on the block? If so, what better way to use your conservatory than for a base for serious, seasonal fun? Many of us don’t have space inside for a games room or a dedicated karaoke zone, and this is where an orangery or a conservatory come in incredibly handy. You can utilise the space to set up a sound system and create a dancefloor to groove the night away to the dulcet tones of Wham and Mariah Carey, you can sing karaoke classics to your heart’s content, or you can create an area for pool and snooker, card games, Charades or your favourite Christmas board games. After dinner, when you need a little time to let your food go down, you can leave the washing up and head out to the games room. You don’t have to worry about clearing the table to start the next phase of your festive celebrations, and you’ll have plenty of space for the whole family to get involved.

MOVIE NIGHTS

There’s nothing better than cuddling up with blankets, duvets and a tin of Quality Street and watching a Christmas film with your loved ones. If you’ve got a conservatory, you’ve got a ready-made cinema perfect for inviting friends and family over. All you need to do is set the TV up, get comfy and press play! To keep warm, add extra throws, and invest in some festive-themed, functional decorations like draught excluders adorned with stags, snowmen or Christmas trees.

ENTERTAINING

Many of us like to host old friends or relatives during the festive period. Christmas is a time for being together, but often, this means getting the emergency chairs out and squeezing around a table that’s never quite big enough. If this scenario sounds familiar, why not make use of your conservatory as an extra entertaining space? You can set up a dining table and chairs to host Christmas dinner, or add a bar and scatter some bean bags, floor cushions, and chairs for informal drinks and nibbles. If you’ve got a huge family, you can also use the extra room to create two dining spaces.

STORAGE AND PLAYTIME

Christmas is synonymous with giving and receiving gifts. The trouble is that many of us end up with mounds of presents and nowhere to put them. If you’ve got people coming over for a midday feast, you don’t want to be rushing around trying to find new homes for toys, coats, and boots with seconds to spare. With a conservatory, you have space for the kids to play and extra room to store items you can put away at a later date. You can create a temporary playroom or simply enjoy the luxury of having a room where you can stash everything out of outsight.

WINTER WONDERLAND

If you love Christmas, and you really want to go all-out with decorations, why not turn your conservatory into a winter wonderland? If you have children, you’ve got friends visiting, or you simply want to sprinkle and soak up some festive magic, this is a great idea. You could opt for a snow-covered Lapland theme, opt for an enchanted forest reminiscent of the Chronicles of Narnia, or go for a chic mountain chalet vibe. Use wall and window stickers to add snow and create a cosy feel with twinkling fairy lights, faux fur rugs, woollen blankets and cushions, and LED lanterns and candles. To finish, use your Christmas tree as a focal point. Colours like white, gold, silver, red, and green are ideal for festive themes.

Christmas is coming, and what better way to celebrate than decking your conservatory out in festive decorations and creating a magical, cosy feel? Conservatories are not just for the summer, and they have an array of uses at Christmas time. Whether you need more space for toys, you love to entertain, or you’ve got a houseful for roast turkey and all the trimmings, hopefully, this article has given you some ideas and inspiration.
